Welcome to The Feminist Bibliothecary’s Lite Reads, where we read a different short story every week, and then discuss it here and on social media. We are returning from a summer hiatus, and I am so excited to be exploring short stories again. This is our 119th selection. This week’s Lite Reads selection is There Are Ghosts Here by Dominique Dickey!

There Are Ghosts Here by Dominique Dickey is a dark short story published by Anathema Magazine in 2018. The story follows cousins Lucas and Maisie after Lucas’s brother has gone missing and Maisie’s parents have died. CW for child death.

From their bio featured on Anathema: “Dominique Dickey is a student at Johns Hopkins University, majoring in Writing Seminars and completing a thesis on the representation of non-normative genders in science fiction. They are a writer, editor, cultural consultant, and all-around RPG hooligan. In addition to creating TRIAL, a narrative courtroom tabletop role-playing game about race in the criminal justice system, Dominique has written for Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Sea of Legends, and Monte Cook Games.”
